Hygiene/Periodontal Health

Comprehensive Periodontal Examination

Depending on the reason for your referral to see Dr. Cook, an appropriate clinical and x-ray examination will be completed to fully evaluate potential problems, as well as to help determine potential treatment and likely outcomes.

Based upon those findings, Dr. Cook and his staff members will thoroughly explain the nature of your problem as well as outline potential treatment options. Our goal is to provide the level of care you desire while keeping your overall health and well-being at the forefront of those decisions.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Each dental exam will include a thorough screening by Dr. Cook and his hygienists for any suspicious lumps, discolored patches, or recurring sore spots.

Oral cancer is a particularly dangerous type of cancer because often it’s not caught until it is in its later stages. Catching cancer early on makes successful treatment far more likely.

Dr. Cook knows first hand why regular cancer screenings are so crucial – he himself is a survivor of oral and neck cancer. He takes early detection very seriously and will help you make sure that you get the regular screenings you need.

Scaling & Root Planing

Often referred to as “deep cleaning,” this non-surgical procedure allows Dr. Cook to remove built-up plaque and tartar from beneath your gumline. We use anesthetic to make sure that you are comfortable throughout the process.

Using specially designed instruments, Dr. Cook removes the build-up and then smoothes out the surface of the root to prevent reinfection.
